It can be extremely hard at times to find a free moment to workout during the day with hectic schedules and busier and busier lives. With all the worries of the economy and job loss, it is reported that more Americans are working longer hours and getting less and less sleep. One way to ensure that you can fit in a workout is to set aside 5 minutes in the morning or 5 minutes in the evening for some weight training. Start with a dumbbell and do as many 1-arm dumbbell reps as possible for 60 to 90 seconds. Keep alternating and when you start to slow down, take 12 second breaks in between to catch your breath and do 5-6 swings and snatches with each arm for the remainder of the 5 minutes. Take more 12 second breaks as needed.
This is a vigorous workout that is meant to shock your body into increasing metabolic rate and since it only takes five minutes, you can even work it into your lunch break. Other exercises that can also be done in this fashion are body weight squats, jump squats, lunges, jump lunges or push-ups.
