
Ground beef products from Valley Meats LLC of Coral Valley, Illinois, were recalled by the Department of Agriculture and nearly 96,000 pounds are suspected of contamination with E. coli and risk of illness is high. The first outbreak was reported by the Ohio Department of Health on May 13th, after illnesses were reported in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
Symptoms of E. coli poisoning are dehydration, kidney failure and bloody diarrhea. The most vulnerable are people with weak immune systems, the very young and the aged. A list of all the recalled products can be found at www.fsis.usda.gov.
