Another great Labor Day drink is a Citrus Ice Tea that is a healthier version of a summertime favorite. There are only 3 ingredients, which include a ½ cup of lemon juice, 1/3 cup of sugar and 3-1/2 cups of brewed tea to your desired strength. Combine the sugar and lemon juice in a pitcher and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Slowly stir your tea into the pitcher and chill in the refrigerator at least two hours before serving. This recipe provides 4 servings and has 72 calories.
The last recipe, Watermelon Fizz, has the most ingredients, but it is a beautiful pink cocktail that will brighten any outdoor grilling celebration. It includes 5 cups of diced watermelon, 6 ounces of gin, 8 tablespoons of limejuice, 1-1/3 cup of ginger ale and lime wedges for garnish. Freeze 1 cup of your diced watermelon for garnish and puree the remaining 4 cups in a blender and strain. Divide the juice among four ice filled glasses. Add to each glass 1-1/2 ounces of gin, 2 tablespoons of limejuice and 1/3 cup of ginger ale. Finish the glasses by garnishing with frozen watermelon and lime wedges. If you would like, you can omit the alcohol for a kid friendly cocktail. This drink has 153 calories and makes four servings.
