5 Advantages to Short Intense Workouts

As research continues to show, short intense exercise burns just as many calories as drawn out cardio workouts and gym workouts, such as treadmills, bikes and elliptical trainers. Probably the biggest advantage to these types of workouts is the time they save in your day. Breaking up your short intense workouts to two or three times a day is another way of getting added fitness into your routine. Another advantage is that it helps you keep from getting bored of the same workout. Many times, we get discouraged with our workouts, but short intense workouts are abundant and there are many exercises to choose from.

Short intense workouts also help you maintain better performance and keep you at the top of your sport. There is also the ease of practice because they do not require any machines and little space is needed to perform them. Another advantage is that they lend to longevity. As we get older we lose the ability to generate force quickly, which is why we see so many falls among the elderly population. Short, intense workouts help to keep you limber and balanced to prevent these types of injuries as you get older.

It is recommended that you be in good physical shape before going all out with these workouts. The soreness and discomfort that accompanies them can be high. When properly planned though, the results can be very positive. It will not only add more time into your day for other things, but you may finally have found your ideal workout.
